Frequently Asked Questions

Where can we shoot?

We can shoot in our gorgeous studio space situated in Neo House, Aberdeen, film at your own premises or preferred location, and alternatively we can source a third-party location to your specification using our locations service.

We’ve provided locations to international TV productions, shot right here in Aberdeen, but we are never afraid to go further afield for maximum impact.

Whilst long-distance projects can be affected by logistics and travel restrictions at the moment, we have worked on productions all over Scotland, and continue to work internationally, just contact us to discuss this.

What do I need to provide?

Provide as little or as much as you want. - We can work with your pre-existing graphics and logos, or we can provide assets such as music or animation, all the way to providing locations, actors and scripts. Typically, the more you provide us with, the lower the overall cost, but our team and our clients feel that the bespoke content we create is worth every penny.

We can even provide unique concepts and ideas relevant to your industry, with accompanying research and data to back it up, to put it simply, we will provide whatever you need from start to finish.

Head to our services page to find out exactly what we can create for you.

How much will my project cost?

Our specialist projects are unique and vary widely in size, and so pricing an unknown piece of work is impossible. However we love discussing your ideas and finding creative solutions within any budget, so don’t be scared to come and have a meeting with us at the studio, or online, where we will provide you with a proposal free-of-charge, come and see what is possible.

Prior to any production, we will always provide you with an accurate quote including a breakdown of costs, so that you can make an informed decision, and have the freedom to make adjustments before locking anything in.

Throughout the year we also offer certain fixed price packages, which can be found on the offers page, though these are subject to availability.

How long will it take?

Much the same as calculating cost, we really don’t know how long something will take to make, until we know exactly what it is we are making.

The time required both on your end (filming together, planning a shoot etc) as well as the delivery timeframe on our end (editing, etc) will be broken down for you in our pre-production proposal, where required, we can offer expedited delivery and short-notice work, albeit for an extra cost.

What does the production process involve?

Depending on which stage of the process you require us at this varies, we can complete an entire production from start to finish including “pre-production” and “post-production”. Or we can flexibly come in at whichever stage you require. A rough breakdown of the entire process looks like this:

  • Initial Meeting: This is where we get to know you, find out who you are, what you need, and create a proposal that gets you to your desired outcome as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Our initial meetings and proposals are always free of charge, and can be done remotely or in-person.

  • Pre-Production: This is where our proposal is turned into a real script and plan of action, with scheduled shoot call-sheets, storyboards, risk assessments, and all of the necessary preparation to make your production a straightforward success.

  • Production: This is the fun part, shooting or producing the content of your dreams, from bringing your imagination to life in 3D animation, to filming your promotional content with a cinema-grade film crew.

  • Post-Production: This involves editing, colour grading, graphics, special effects, animation, captioning, music and sound effects, etc.

  • Marketing/Publishing: This involves uploading and scheduling content to its desired platform or delivery method, from Facebook targeted ads and scheduled posts, to printing of event photo-books, CD burning, etc.

  • Analysis & Review: So far virtually every client we’ve had enjoys the process and the results enough to come back and do another production with us, this stage allows future work to be even more impactful than the last by honing in on what has worked and streamlining what doesn’t.

What kind of equipment do you use?

As mentioned on our benefits page, we have a wide array of high-end cinema and photography cameras approved for use by Netflix, as well as sought after Neumann microphones, Aputure lighting, and much more.

We invite you to contact us if you’d like to know anything specific, and we are happy to provide a kit list for any jobs you have in mind. We are able to discuss equipment at a highly technical level, or, help you cut right to the chase and figure out what will work best for your desired job, without all of the jargon.

Additionally, if you require specialist or niche equipment that we don’t already own, we can rent and procure this on your behalf without giving you any extra hassle.

Will I need actors or voice-actors?

You can choose to appear on-screen, provide someone of your choosing, or even have us source and cast the perfect talent, actors and models for your project.

You can have as much control over this part of the process as you wish!

How many revisions do I get?

This varies depending on the type of project as well as the size, for instance, making small tweaks to a 15 second TikTok video will involve much less work than an entire set of revisions to an hour long documentary.

Because of this, we discuss and set an agreeable amount of free revisions on a per-project basis, this will be discussed and laid out in detail before we begin the work, so that you know exactly what is included and what isn’t.

How much control do I have over the final product?

Our job is to give you exactly what you want, and so we will always give you the final say on your own projects. Whether you’d like to be extremely involved, or totally hands-off. Our key responsibility is to ensure that we give you high-quality advice and support to make informed and realistic decisions.

If you want to leave it to us, we are more than happy to come up with a plan and carry it out to our very high standards, and equally, if you want to approve and review everything before it goes live, we are happy to give you creative control.

How should I market my new content?

If you’re not sure how to maximise the impact and get the best results from your new piece of content, or even your pre-existing content, our team can use our unique and failsafe approach to make this a resounding success for you.

After all, it’s in our best interest to get as many eyes on your content as possible… The best way for us to retain your business is to make sure you get the revenue and results you wanted and decide to use us again.

We offer Website Development, Social Media Management, Digital Design, and much more, for anyone looking for a more complete package, including expert marketing consultancy.

For those working with a more limited budget, or who already have their own marketing staff on-hand, we can provide cost-effective consultancy on tasks like SEO, Content Planning, Idea Generation, Analytics and Analysis, and give your team a clear cut plan of action, along with the tools to ensure they deliver it.

Visit our consultants Johnny & Sarah to find out more about them, or contact us to make an appointment.

Can we use copyrighted music?

Simply put, yes, but only if you have the budget to pay for it. Popular chart music for example can often cost tens of thousands to license, if not more…

That’s why most of our clients instead opt to use our music sublicensing service, where we provide you with a music library of over 12,000 songs to choose from. We can either choose the perfect song for you, provide you with a small selection to choose from, or give you unlimited access to the whole thing. All for a small one-off fee.

By using this service we can provide you with a license that protects you against any copyright claims, giving you peace of mind and total freedom to monetise your content with no reoccurring royalty payments.

We also create bespoke music and jingles in our top-of-the-range music studio, produced exactly to your liking. If you want a certain musician or singer to perform your new song, we can endeavour to make this possible also.

Head over to our music page to find out more.

Can you edit photographs or videos captured by someone else?

If they are taken by you, and you own the copyright to them, this is easily doable. - However, if the media was produced by another professional who owns the copyright, this is something that needs to be discussed and agreed with them first, if you haven’t already been made the owner of the intellectual property. We are more than happy to provide support with this process, and will use our experience to make this as painless as possible.

Head to our editing page to find out more.

Can I edit the content myself?

If we produce content such as video footage or photographs, it’s important that we maintain our extremely high level of quality on anything that could have our name on it. Due to this, we maintain copyright ownership of anything that we produce by default, and if you wish to edit it yourself, or to provide it to a third-party for editing, this will need to be negotiated separately. This can vary depending on the content, for example, putting an Instagram filter on your glamorous new headshot would never be an issue, but the exact terms & conditions for derivative works can be found in our production contract, which you’ll be able to read and question before committing to anything at all.

Can I rent your equipment for my own production?

We understand that you may not have tens of thousands of pounds ready to spend on buying high-end cinema and photography equipment for yourself. - That’s why, some of our amazing equipment is available to rented out, however this does depend on availability and can’t be guaranteed unless booked and confirmed in advance.

Since we can’t control demand, we suggest contacting us as far ahead of time as possible to avoid disappointment.
